Alaska celebrates Geography Awareness Week

GeoFest, a free family educational event, will be held Saturday, Nov. 20 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Effie Kokrine Charter School on Loftus Road in ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø.
The event is part of Geography Awareness Week and is sponsored by the University of Alaska Geography Program and the Alaska Geographic Alliance.
Geography Awareness Week runs Nov. 14-20. Volunteers will visit local schools with educational activities and encourage teachers to include geography lessons at all grade levels. Visit for more geography awareness information.
