Record fundraiser for KUAC FM
October 28, 2011
The KUAC FM Fall Fundraiser raised $305,797, the highest total amount ever raised. Other records broken included more than $27K
for one hour of Alaska Live and $11K in one hour of the Folk Sampler. A total of 267
new donors stepped up to support KUAC for the first time — a number of them youth
like 11 year-old Sonia, who made her first gift ever to KUAC on Wednesday, then came
in two days later to make a second gift.While the Eastlan ratings ranked KUAC as the number one FM station in the Interior, there are other meaningful statistics that back that up: 1,770 gifts given during the fund drive; 1,503 renewal gifts; 267 gifts by first-time supporters; and the grand total of $305,797.
Other highlights:
- In the phone bank, KUAC clocked over 600 volunteer-hours (some people did numerous shifts, some only an hour, but all were great contributions
- Nearly 250 on-air volunteer-hours for people who "pitched" on the radio;
- A grand total of 850 volunteer-hours put in by the community; and
- Refreshments for those volunteers came from a number of sources, including Alaska Coffee Roasting Company (kept us going strong with a pound of coffee and a dozen baked goods each morning and it really made the early AM volunteers feel special), Blue Loon, Coca Cola Bottling of Alaska, ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Bottled Water, Fred Meyer West, L’Assiette de Pomegranate, Julia’s Solstice Café, LuLu’s Bagels, Pike’s Landing, River City Cafe and Espresso, Safeway, Sourdough Fuel and Snacks, UAF Catering & UAF Dining Services, Water Wagon, and friends who walked in with cookies, pies, and bags of apples (from Dr. Beth Kohnen).
